Great News for Little Explorers

27 February 2018

Delighted staff and children at Little Explorers, in Grantham, are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from OFSTED inspectors.

The nursery has received a ‘Good’ rating following a full day of inspection. Inspectors were impressed with the way the new manager has led the nursery, stating “The manager evaluates the nursery’s provision well. She has made many changes since starting in her new role. This includes maintaining a calm and relaxed environment where children can flourish”

The Ofsted report praised staff, noting that “Children are confident in their interactions with staff. They are keen to share their learning experiences with them. Staff plan for children’s learning, based on their interests and what children need to learn next” .

Rachel Allen, became Nursery Manager at Little Explorers in September in 2017 and she has led the nursery from strength to strength. Rachel said “I am pleased with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection. I look forward to implementing more changes to develop new experiences for every child that attends Little Explorers”.

CEO of Children’s Links, Karen Parsons said: “We are delighted that Ofsted has highlighted the strengths of the team and the nursery as a whole. Little Explorers is a great nursery with dedicated, creative and enthusiastic staff. Little Explorers is a credit to the Children’s Links Group”.

Great Garden Makeover

​Maple Vue nursery are delighted to be able to share the news that they are having a garden makeover!

Sandra Walker, Nursery Manager, has recently had confirmation that the Community Matters Partnership Project bid has been successful!

The Community Matters Partnership Project (CMPP) is a collaboration of socially responsible, caring organisations working together to make a social and economic difference within the local community. CMPP looks to increase the positive impact that business can play in the local community by harnessing the immense skill, expertise, energy and drive to help and support local young people.

Sandra and her team have been put in touch with the BMW garage employees to work together on making a difference.

Understanding the Developing Brain

​A training opportunity not to be missed! For anyone working with children and young people or parents and carers of children and young people.

You will get the best out of children and young people when you know how to work with their developing brain.

This session will help you understand how the brain is constructed from birth; how it is shaped by experience and the environment; and most importantly, how the adults who work and live with children and young people have an enormous impact on how they develop.

Essentially you will learn to maximise brain capacity of the children you live and work with, helping them to live well, learn well and to ‘be’ well.

‘Good’ Ofsted for Shining Stars

13 February 2018

Delighted staff and children at Shining Stars, in Wainfleet, are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from OFSTED inspectors.

The nursery has received a ‘Good’ rating following a full day of inspection. Inspectors were impressed with the strong relationships built between the nursery and parents, noting that the nursery staff “develop excellent partnerships with parents. Parents acknowledge the high level of care and value the warmth and friendliness of staff”.

The Ofsted report praised staff, noting that “The Manager is passionate about supporting the children and families that attend the nursery. She demonstrates a dedication and enthusiasm for the continued development of the nursery”.
Well qualified staff that play alongside children enthusiastically was also singled out for praise in the report. Gina Edwards, Nursery Manager at Shining Stars said “We are pleased that the Inspector noted that the team are well qualified and enthusiastic as well as creating a highly stimulating, well resourced environment. The team and I are always striving to provide exceptional care and play opportunities”.
CEO of Children’s Links, Karen Parsons said: “We are very pleased that OFSTED has confirmed what we have known for some time – Shining Stars is a great nursery with dedicated and enthusiastic staff. Shining Stars is a credit to the Children’s Links Group”.

Karen Lee MP Gives Seal of Approval

Our Toy Library based in Lincoln is a fun filled play area for young children that also offers the opportunity to borrow toys to play with at home.

We have been working hard to make it a welcoming, warm and friendly place for families in the community to enjoy.

Karen Lee MP has been along to the Toy Library and she gave us her seal of approval.

“The Toy Library is a valuable resource for families in the city of Lincoln and beyond. This facility offers affordable play opportunities and toy hire to the children of Lincoln, the wider area and their families”.

We are delighted that Karen could come along and see our expert play practioners working with families.

Karen went on to say “They strive to provide a professional service to families and are innovative, recognising the importance of being accessible to all”.

Elaine Clowes, Founder and Former CEO of Children’s Links

It is with great sadness we wish to share the news that Elaine Clowes, founder and former CEO of Children’s Links, passed away on 28th January 2018.
Elaine was passionate about promoting children’s issues and campaigned on a national level to influence positive change for those who were in most need.
Our thoughts, best wishes and sympathies are sent to Elaine’s family and friends, and to all those who are mourning her loss.

Introduction to Childminding

This course helps people make a decision about becoming a childminder and get started.

Topics include

Safer Recruitment

This opportunity is completely FREE as it is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF).

Head Office Relocation

​Children’s Links would like to officially announce that we will begin to relocate our Head Office on Monday 23rd October 2017. We are pleased and excited to be moving to Suite 1 & 4, Gymphlex Buildings, Boston Road, Horncastle, Lincolnshire.

We look forward to continuing to work with our current partners and stakeholders. The focus for our new office will be to provide our quality children’s services and expert knowledge in the children’s sector, with a view to strenghtening and developing the Children’s Links team and new business opportunities.

Unfortunately we may experience some short term disruption to our IT and telephone systems during our relocation. Please accept our sincere apologies if short delays occur when trying to contact us. We are all putting pur best ORANGE gear on for Friday, could you take part and help us to raise money?

Skydive Saturday – 23rd September

We have 12 willing volunteers that will be doing a tandem skydive. They will be harnessed to the front of a BPA qualified instructor, and after just a 20 minute briefing they will fly up to 15,000 feet and then take the jump! Children’s Links Nominated for Local Awards!

The Lincolnshire Sports Awards 2017, sponsored by Riseholme College, a part of Bishop Burton College, are back again for their fourteenth year on Thursday November 2nd at the Epic Centre, Lincolnshire Showground.

Children’s Links are delighted to be nominated for two awards!

Little Explorers Nursery encourages, promotes and develops new ways for children to get active! All children engage in the outdoor activities; They develop a sense of satisfaction and achievement, increase their stamina, become aware of the impact of physical activity on their bodies, talking about heart rates, breathing, muscle sensations and are then able to build some awareness to self-regulate – all through positive and imaginative play.

Also, our Play Rangers are out there in the community working with children, young people and their families to use those open green spaces that a freely available for all. Play Rangers enthuse and encourage children to live healthy active lifestyles and we help to embed these principles for their future.

Little Explorers & Play Rangers are fantastic examples of the work we do to improve the life quality and experiences of children, young people and their families.

We look forward to finding out if we have have been shortlisted.

Skydive with us!

Have you ever wanted to skydive?

Join our team and help us fundraise and have an experience of a lifetime!
Whether you’ve already taken the plunge or you thought you’d never get the chance to, a tandem skydive is something you should experience! You don’t have to be an adrenaline junkie to appreciate the thrill of flying towards the earth, taking in incredible views and letting your whole body relax as you get used to the flying sensation! You’ll fly safe in the knowledge you’re strapped safely to an experienced and qualified instructor who will take care of everything for you.

Are you up to the challenge?

Date and Time: Saturday 23rd September at 9am
Location: Skydive Hibaldstow, Hibaldstow Airfield, Hibaldstow (near Brigg), North Lincolnshire, DN20 9NN

Cost: £50 deposit per person need to be paid by 13th July

Minimum pledge and fundraising target: £320

This will cover the cost of the jump and also raise funds for Children’s Links. You will need to raise this amount, or make up the shortfall yourself on the day. Or you can pay for the skydive yourself (£158.05) and then the minimum fundraising target would be reduced to £161.95
What will happen on the day?

You will be doing a tandem skydive. You will be harnessed to the front of a BPA qualified instructor, and after just a 20 minute briefing we will fly up to 15,000 feet and then take the jump!

Busy Summer Sessions benefits over 800 people!

Our Youth Ranger and Community Engagement teams worked together in all of the children’s centres in East Lindsey to deliver Boredom Buster sessions.

The sessions provided a wide range of activities suitable for birth to 18 year olds, designed so whole families could attend the centre and enjoy time together. Both teams work as part of our contracts with Lincolnshire County Council to deliver services to families within children’s centres and outreach services to young people.

We also delivered 28 Play Ranger sessions in parks and green spaces within East Lindsey. These sessions are delivered within local communities and having been running for several years in these areas during the summer holidays. The sessions are run in partnership with Waterloo Housing.
