We provide positive activities within local communities for young people and also engage with them and develop positive relationships.
Our teams meet with young people where they hang out and congregate to identify what their key issues are and support them to identify solutions. The young people are fully involved in deciding what plan of action to take, this could include negotiating with a local leisure centre over opening times, engaging in activities or applying for a small pot of funding to provide specialist sessions.
The staff can signpost young people to other activities and support available and encourage them to participate. Our staff can provide a link between the young people and other agencies within their community. Where young people have particular issues we support them, liaising with other appropriate professionals such as a Service Targeted Youth Support Worker.
Our positive activity sessions are delivered at venues and at times that suit the needs of the young people. Sessions will include a variety of activities to meet the needs and interests of a wide range of young people. Young people will be involved in deciding what activities will be offered during these sessions.
As well as flexible, young person led sessions we are able to deliver John Muir Awards. This is an opportunity for young people to gain an accredited award. The sessions are environmentally based mixed with lots of fun activities and are delivered over a few days to ensure the young people achieve them minimum hours required. Whilst these sessions are more structured as the environmental aims do need to be met, young people still mould the sessions.
All staff hold a recognised relevant qualification, an enhanced DBS, a first aid qualification and have received training in safeguarding, inclusion and drug awareness.
